ABOUT

Dagmara

When I decided to train to become  a therapist, I simultaneously embarked on a journey of my own greater self-awareness. What I have learned for myself and what I teach my clients is that even the most confusing (or shameful) of our thoughts, feelings and behaviors make sense if only we suspend judgment, muster up compassion and patience, and examine the entire tapestry of the life experiences that lay foundation for them. As I accompany my clients in their own self-discovery and healing process, I show up as an active participant and highly attuned guide recognizing the enormous privilege and trust my clients bestow on me.

My approach is collaborative, active, and focused on tailored solutions that allow my clients to achieve their unique goals. Though it is my utmost priority to ensure that my clients feel heard when working with me, I offer more than a "sounding board" and a space to "vent." I see it as my responsibility to facilitate difficult, and at times painful, conversations and respectfully challenge unhelpful thinking patterns if necessary. I believe that change takes effort and I use empathy and experience in gently nudging my clients out of their comfort zone and encouraging new ways of being in the service of personal and relational growth. I do it with inherent tact, curiosity and, if appropriate, my Polish sense of humor.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I am forever a learner, world traveler, coffee enthusiast, jazz lover, Leonard Cohen fan and a horseback riding aficionado. My favorite motto is "It is what it is but it will become what you make of it." I try to make lemonade out of my lemons... and enjoy it too!
